And Now, We Wait...

While waiting for the Fuel Pump to arrive, I did some more digging on Google and discovered that instead of accessing the Pump from above by taking the back seat out, I can only get to it from below by removing the Fuel Tank. Since the plan had changed, I did even more digging and assessing the car to try to develop a new strategy and attack plan. As I think I've said before, my car sat in Pennsylvania for about ten to fifteen years and is COVERED in rust. And considering the state of the old Fuel Filter when we pulled it out, Josh and I had a feeling that once we get that tank out, it's probably best to just put a new one in. So, I hopped on RockAuto and quickly ordered a new Tank.
The more we looked at it, the more challenging this "simple fix" had become. We were finding more and more holes in our attack plan. Due to my lack of a lift, we would have to do the job in my driveway with the car on jack stands. Which, while yes, that's how I do most of my jobs, it would be complicated to lower a gas tank down without getting crushed or covered in gasoline. The other problem is the amount of rust that was covering EVERYTHING. One wrong move, and before you know it, we might not even be able to get a new tank in. So we started asking around for someone with a little more experience and knowledge to do it and for a reasonable price. Luckily, Josh was next door talking to the Service Manager at the gas station next to where we work, and he said he could do it for $250 in labor, which was a perfect price for me, considering I was able to get a good deal on all the parts.
Everything was delivered on Thursday, and on Sunday (yesterday), we had the car towed to the gas station. This morning, I brought them the key and helped move it into the shop. The Service Manager said that the latest they would be done is Wednesday. I'm trying my best to prepare myself for the worst in that, the problem is not the fuel pump. In which case, we go back to the beginning with the manual and the troubleshooting. But for now, all we can do is wait.
